Location: Hockley, Birmingham

Pay: £15.00 per hour – equivalent to £29,250 per annum

Hours: 37.5 hours per week

Shifts: Day shifts, either 8:00am–4:00pm or 9:00am–5:00pm, with a 30-minute unpaid break

Brookes HC Recruitment is recruiting an experienced Deputy Manager for a busy 25-bed residential care service in Hockley, Birmingham. The service supports adults aged 18–75 with mental health conditions, learning disabilities, complex needs and behaviours that may challenge. This is an excellent opportunity for an established Deputy Manager or a highly experienced Senior Support Worker or Team Leader who is ready to take the next step in their career.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting the Registered Manager with the day-to-day operation of the service
  • Deputising for the Registered Manager when required
  • Leading, motivating and supporting the care team
  • Helping to prepare staff rotas and maintain appropriate staffing levels
  • Completing staff inductions, supervisions and appraisals
  • Supporting staff training, development and performance management
  • Ensuring care plans and risk assessments are accurate and regularly reviewed
  • Maintaining safe medication-management practices
  • Monitoring the quality and consistency of care provided
  • Ensuring policies, procedures and safeguarding requirements are followed
  • Supporting compliance with CQC regulations and quality standards
  • Producing accurate reports and maintaining clear records
  • Communicating effectively with residents, families, professionals and external agencies

To be considered, you should have:

  • Previous experience in a Deputy Manager, Care Team Leader, Senior Support Worker or comparable leadership role
  • Experience supporting adults with mental health conditions and learning disabilities
  • Strong leadership skills and the confidence to work in a busy, demanding residential environment
  • Experience supervising, motivating and developing staff
  • Good medication knowledge and awareness
  • Experience completing care plans and risk assessments
  • Knowledge of safeguarding and CQC requirements
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Basic IT skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel
  • A relevant health and social care qualification would be advantageous
