Pay: £15.26 per hour

Hours: 27 hours per week (3 shifts)

Shift Times: 7:00am – 4:00pm

We are seeking an experienced and reliable Deputy Chef to join our team at a 46-bed nursing home supporting predominantly older adults. You will play a key role in delivering nutritious, high-quality meals while maintaining excellent hygiene and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and cook meals for up to 46 residents and additional requirements
  • Cater for specialist diets, including modified diets and IDDSI levels
  • Liaise daily with senior staff regarding dietary changes
  • Support kitchen operations and step up in the absence of the Head Chef
  • Maintain high standards of food hygiene, health & safety, and cleanliness
  • Complete cleaning schedules and ensure all areas/equipment are sanitised
  • Ensure correct stock rotation and safe food storage
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation
  • Serve meals and support a positive dining experience

Requirements

  • Previous kitchen or culinary experience (essential)
  • Knowledge of food hygiene and sanitation practices
  • Understanding of dietary needs of older adults
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Good communication and teamwork skills
  • IDDSI experience (desirable)
  • Relevant qualifications (e.g. Food Hygiene Level 2) or willingness to update
