Brookes HC Recruitment Ltd is recruiting five full-time Support Workers for a 30-bed specialist care service in Brixham. The service supports adults of different ages who have a range of physical disabilities, learning disabilities, mental-health needs and long-term neurological conditions. These may include acquired brain injuries, cerebral palsy, epilepsy, Huntington’s disease, motor neurone disease, multiple sclerosis, muscular dystrophy, Parkinson’s disease, spina bifida and stroke.
This is a temp-to-permanent opportunity for compassionate, reliable people who can provide person-centred support and promote each individual’s independence, wellbeing and quality of life.
Shift pattern:
- Applicants must be flexible to work both day and night shifts according to the service’s needs.
- Day shifts: 7:45am–8:00pm
- Night shifts: 7:45pm–8:00am
- One-hour unpaid break during each shift
- Approximately 40 hours per week
- Shifts will predominantly be days, but applicants must also be able to work nights when required

Responsibilities:
- Supporting individuals with their daily routines
- Providing respectful personal care when required
- Promoting independence, dignity, choice and wellbeing
- Supporting individuals to participate in activities and engage with their community
- Following individual care and support plans
- Assisting people with physical disabilities and complex support needs
- Maintaining accurate daily records
- Supporting safe mobility and following moving and handling procedures
- Working closely with colleagues and the wider care team
- Following safeguarding, health and safety, medication and infection-control procedures
Requirements:
- Previous care or support work experience is preferred
- A compassionate, respectful and person-centred approach
- Confidence supporting adults with a variety of physical and neurological needs
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- Reliability and the ability to work flexibly
- Willingness to complete all required training and pre-employment checks
- Availability to work both days and nights
- An existing right to work in the UK

Successful candidates will initially work through Brookes HC Recruitment Ltd as part of the agreed temp-to-permanent arrangement, with the intention of transferring permanently to the service following successful completion of the placement.
