We are looking to speak with experienced Head Cooks / Care Home Chefs regarding an upcoming permanent opportunity within an established 40+ bed nursing home in South Birmingham. This would suit someone with strong experience working within a care home, nursing home or similar healthcare environment who understands the additional nutritional requirements involved in catering for older adults.

The role will involve taking responsibility for the day-to-day running of the kitchen and ensuring residents receive nutritious, well-presented meals that meet their individual dietary and clinical needs. The role will include:

  • Preparing and overseeing high-quality meals for residents
  • Planning varied and nutritionally balanced menus
  • Catering for individual dietary requirements and allergies
  • Preparing texture-modified diets
  • Understanding and working in line with the IDDSI framework
  • Food fortification for residents requiring increased nutritional support
  • Maintaining excellent food hygiene and kitchen standards
  • Managing stock, ordering and food rotation
  • Supporting and overseeing other kitchen staff
  • Maintaining accurate food safety and dietary records
  • Working closely with care and nursing teams regarding residents’ nutritional needs
