Role Description

We are seeking a Maintenance Engineer for a full-time, on-site role based in Wickford. The role is responsible for maintaining production equipment to ensure reliability, minimise downtime, and support output. This includes planned preventive maintenance, reactive repairs, fault finding, and continuous improvement of machinery and systems. You will work across mechanical and electrical equipment and play a key role in maintaining the operational performance of the factory.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out planned preventive maintenance (PPM) across all equipment
  • Diagnose faults and carry out timely repairs to minimise downtime
  • Maintain and improve electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems
  • Support installation, commissioning, and modification of machinery
  • Identify root causes of recurring issues and implement corrective actions
  • Ensure all work is completed in line with health and safety standards
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation
  • Work closely with production to prioritise and resolve issues

Qualifications & Experience

  • Strong background in maintenance engineering within a manufacturing environment
  • Proven experience with electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems (fault finding and repair is essential)
  • Hands-on experience in both reactive and preventive maintenance
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, manuals, and schematics
  • Good understanding of health and safety requirements in an industrial setting
  • Relevant engineering qualification (e.g. NVQ, City & Guilds, HNC or equivalent)
  • Strong problem-solving ability and attention to detail
  • Experience within HVAC, fabrication, or similar industries is advantageous
