Administrative Officer - Wigan Magistrates Court
Location: Wigan
Monday to Friday - Full time
Pay Rate - Β£12.86ph
What you'll be doing:
- Support Legal Team Managers with functions relating to magistrates' benches, panels, committees and Advisory Committees in the North West Region
- Help prepare and organise training events for legal staff
- Compile and maintain magistrates' sitting rotas
- Attend meetings as required, then prepare and distribute meeting documentation (agenda, supporting papers, main points, actions)
- Sift and distribute mail and correspondence, drafting responses as directed
- Act as a point of contact for enquiries from magistrates, partner agencies and court users
- Liaise with operational colleagues across the region to collect information, check facts, communicate and support smooth court procedures
- Prepare, produce and distribute correspondence, reports, papers and statistical returns
- Maintain and update records, information systems and databases, including data inputting, running reports and initiating queries
What you'll bring:
- Confident phone manner and a helpful, prompt, polite approach-focused on "right first time" service
- Strong eye for detail, particularly when scheduling, organising and producing documents
- Clear communication skills with the ability to work professionally with a wide range of stakeholders
- A proactive, problem-solving mindset and willingness to support the team with additional administrative tasks as needed
Additional information:
- Working pattern: 9-5 (flexible start available from 8:30, finishing 4:30 for early shifts)
