TEMPORARY HOUSING OFFICER
We are working with a Highland-based organisation seeking a Temporary Housing Officer to join their team on a hybrid basis. This role is ideal for an experienced housing professional who enjoys working with people, managing complex situations, and delivering excellent customer service.
The position will start ASAP, initially running until October with the possibility of an extension. Working hours are Monday to Friday, 9:00am-5:00pm (35 hours per week).
The role includes office-based and home working, plus some travel across the Highlands. A full car licence and access to your own car are required, and mileage allowance will be paid.

Job Responsibilities

  • Provide tenancy sustainment support to help residents maintain stable tenancies.
  • Manage income and rent-related matters, supporting effective income collection and engagement.
  • Support voids and allocations, ensuring properties are managed fairly and efficiently.
  • Contribute to tenancy management including anti-social behaviour (ASB) and estate management.
  • Handle challenging situations with resilience, flexibility, and confidence, using an appropriate and professional approach.
  • Maintain accurate records and support effective case management using relevant housing systems.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure timely and consistent service delivery.
  • Support compliance with Data Protection and Health & Safety requirements relevant to housing services.
  • Assist with budget-related responsibilities as required for the role.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Several years' experience working in a customer-focused environment.
  • At least 2 years' relevant experience within housing management, tenancy support and/or allocations.
  • Experience of dealing with challenging situations while maintaining professionalism and appropriate boundaries.
  • Achieved or actively working towards a Housing HNC (or equivalent qualification).
  • Educated to Higher Grade (or equivalent level of attainment).
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Experience using a housing management database (case and tenancy recording).
  • Membership of an appropriate professional body, for example CIH (or evidence of active professional engagement).
  • Understanding of current and developing legislation and social policy relevant to the housing sector.
  • Experience of managing a work-related budget (or budgetary responsibilities within a housing context).
  • Understanding of the Data Protection Act and ability to handle sensitive information appropriately.
  • Understanding of relevant Health & Safety requirements in housing services.
  • Full UK driving licence and access to your own car for travel across the Highlands.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, including the ability to build trust with residents and partners.
  • Ability to work effectively in a hybrid setup, managing time and priorities to meet service demands.
