We are supporting a well-established, partner-led London accountancy firm with the appointment of a Tax Manager (UK/US) into its specialist expatriate and private client tax team. This role sits at Assistant Manager / Manager level, depending on experience, and is suited to a UK/US tax professional who enjoys technical depth, client interaction, and reviewing the work of others rather than high-volume preparation.
The role involves taking ownership of a varied portfolio of UK and US private clients, managing delivery across compliance and advisory matters while overseeing and mentoring junior team members.
Key responsibilities include:
- Managing and reviewing UK and US personal tax returns
- Delegating work to junior staff and maintaining quality control prior to Partner/Director review
- Acting as a technical point of contact on complex UK/US tax matters
- Providing guidance and coaching to junior colleagues
- Contributing to technical discussions, notes, and internal knowledge-sharing
- Supporting client pitches and advisory projects where required
This is a review-led, client-facing role, rather than a production-heavy compliance position.
About you:
You are likely to be a strong fit if you have:
- Dual qualification: Enrolled Agent (EA) and UK tax qualification (ATT or equivalent)
- Proven experience preparing, reviewing, and filing UK & US tax returns
- Background in private client / expatriate tax rather than corporate-only tax
- Experience managing or mentoring junior staff (formally or informally)
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative working style
