Senior Residential Support Worker - Birmingham
Location: Yardley Wood, Kings Heath, Moseley & Oldbury
Salary: £26,880 basic + £70 per sleep-in + overtime
Potential Earnings: Approx. £36,120 based on 11 sleep-ins per month
Hours: 160 hours per month | Approx. 11 shifts

We are recruiting an experienced Senior Residential Support Worker to join established children's residential homes across Birmingham.
This is a senior position requiring someone who is confident leading shifts, supporting Residential Support Workers and providing high-quality care to children and young people with emotional and behavioural needs.
The Role
You will be responsible for:
- Leading shifts and supporting the day-to-day running of the home
- Guiding and supporting Residential Support Workers
- Safeguarding children and promoting their welfare
- Supporting young people with emotional and behavioural needs
- Managing challenging behaviour and using de-escalation techniques
- Following care plans, risk assessments and behaviour support plans
- Completing and checking records, reports and handovers
- Administering medication in line with procedures
- Supporting education, appointments, activities and independence
- Working alongside management, social workers and other professionals
Hours & Pay
You will work 160 hours per month - approximately 11 shifts.
Typical shifts are 8am-11pm, followed by a sleep-in where scheduled. Working days vary according to the rota, so some weeks may include more shifts than others.
The basic salary is £26,880 per annum, with an additional £70 for every sleep-in.
Based on approximately 11 sleep-ins per month, earnings could be around £36,120 per annum, before any overtime.
Overtime is available across the organisation's other Birmingham homes.
Essential Requirements
- NVQ Level 3 in Residential Childcare, Children & Young People, Health & Social Care or equivalent
- Minimum 1 year's children's residential experience
- Previous experience leading shifts/supporting other care staff
- Good safeguarding and behaviour management knowledge
- Flexible to work weekends and sleep-ins
- Full UK Driving Licence and access to own car
- Flexible to work across Birmingham homes when required
You will normally be based at one home, with flexibility required to support homes in Yardley Wood, Kings Heath, Moseley and Oldbury.
