Admin Officer - Newcastle Crown Court
Location: Newcastle Crown Court, The Law Courts, Quayside, Newcastle upon Tyne, NE1 3LA
Salary: Β£12.86 per hour for the first 12 weeks, increasing to Β£13.25 per hour thereafter
Hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00am-5:00pm (37 hours per week)
Working Pattern: Fully office based
Contract: Until 31 March 2027, with the possibility of extension
Clearance: Enhanced DBS required
Start Date: As soon as possible, subject to successful sign-off
About the Role
We are currently recruiting for an Admin Officer to join the team at Newcastle Crown Court. This is an excellent opportunity to work within a busy court environment, providing essential administrative support to ensure the smooth running of court, tribunal and hearing activities.
The successful candidate will be organised, reliable and confident working with members of the public, colleagues and other court users.
Key Responsibilities
Your duties will include:
- Preparing papers and files for courts, tribunals, hearings and meetings.
- Producing and processing court documents.
- Creating, maintaining and updating records on internal systems.
- Completing accurate data input and administrative tasks.
- Drafting standard letters, correspondence and documents.
- Clerking Civil and Family Courts, tribunals and hearings.
- Assisting court users with general queries and providing a professional service.
- Carrying out ushering duties when required.
- Supporting colleagues with general administrative duties to help maintain the effective operation of the court.

- The ability to communicate confidently and professionally with a wide range of people.
- The ability to work effectively in a busy environment and manage competing priorities.
- A professional, reliable and customer-focused approach.
- The ability to follow processes and handle confidential information appropriately.
Previous experience within a court, legal, public sector or administrative environment would be beneficial, but is not essential.
