HM Courts & Tribunals Service (HMCTS)

Location: Willesden Magistrates' Court (with occasional admin support at Ealing & Uxbridge Magistrates' Courts)

Pay Rate: £15.59 per hour

Hours: 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 9:00am - 5:00pm

Contract: Full-time, temporary - until March 2026 (with potential extension)

Brook Street is delighted to be recruiting a Court Usher (List Caller) on behalf of HM Courts & Tribunals Service (HMCTS), an executive agency of the Ministry of Justice. This is a rewarding opportunity to play a key role in the day-to-day operation of the courts and contribute directly to the justice system.

About the Role

As a Court Usher (List Caller), you will be responsible for supporting court proceedings and ensuring hearings run smoothly and efficiently. You will act as a key point of contact for court users, legal professionals, and judiciary staff.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and manage daily court lists, ensuring accuracy and organisation
  • Call parties into the courtroom and maintain the smooth flow of cases
  • Keep court users informed of estimated timings and case progress
  • Liaise with legal representatives, interpreters, and support services
  • Assist with courtroom setup and ensure all documentation is in place
  • Support administrative duties including post opening, case entry, and handling telephone or counter enquiries
  • Deliver excellent customer service to all court users at all times

Skills & Experience Required

  • Professionalism: Calm, confident, and proactive in a busy environment
  • Organisation: Strong time management and prioritisation skills
  • Communication: Clear, confident, and professional verbal and written communication (Public speaking is a key part of this role)
  • Self-Motivation: Ability to work independently and use initiative
  • Administration: Previous administrative or data entry experience is desirable

A DBS check is required (processed by Brook Street). Security clearance must be successfully completed (typically 2-3 weeks).
