A respected educational organisation in Leeds is seeking a Catering Assistant to join its busy catering team. This is an excellent opportunity for candidates with catering, kitchen, food service, hospitality, café, canteen, school catering or customer service experience who enjoy working in a fast-paced environment and making a positive difference to young people's daily experience.
Working alongside the Catering Supervisor, you will help deliver a high-quality food service to students and staff, ensuring meals are nutritious, varied, affordable and meet a wide range of dietary requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Food preparation and basic cooking duties
- Serving food and beverages to students, staff and visitors
- Maintaining high standards of food presentation
- Ordering stock and receiving deliveries
- Conducting food temperature checks
- Stock control and rotation
- Operating tills and handling cash transactions
- Cleaning kitchen, dining and food preparation areas
- Ensuring compliance with Food Hygiene and Health & Safety regulations
- Delivering outstanding customer service at all times
- Supporting the wider catering team as required
Essential Requirements
- Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate
- Previous experience in a kitchen, catering, café, hospitality or food service environment
- Excellent customer service and communication skills
- Ability to work effectively within a team
- Reliable, organised and proactive approach
- Ability to build positive relationships with students and staff
Desirable Experience
- School, college, educational or public sector catering experience
- Stock management and ordering
- Till operation and cash handling
