You will provide essential administrative and operational support to help ensure court services and hearings run smoothly. As one of the first points of contact for court users, members of the public, judicial office holders and partner organisations, you will provide a professional, helpful and impartial service. You may support individuals who are vulnerable or have additional needs, so empathy, resilience and excellent communication skills are important.

Key Responsibilities

  • Providing high-quality administrative and customer service support
  • Preparing for and supporting the smooth running of court hearings
  • Responding to enquiries face-to-face, over the telephone and through written and digital channels
  • Processing casework and accurately updating records and databases
  • Handling case files and sensitive information securely
  • Supporting court users and signposting them to appropriate services and information
  • Assisting with listing, scheduling and diary coordination
  • Supporting jury administration where required
  • Booking interpreters, intermediaries and other professionals for hearings
  • Liaising with judiciary, colleagues, external agencies and other justice partners
  • Dealing professionally with complaints and escalating issues where appropriate
  • Reporting facilities, health and safety or IT issues
  • Completing general administrative duties and other tasks according to business requirements

What We're Looking For

  • Previous administration and/or customer service experience
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Good IT skills, including confidence using Microsoft Office and databases
  • Excellent attention to detail and accurate data-entry skills
  • The ability to organise and prioritise a varied workload
  • A professional and impartial approach when dealing with sensitive information
  • Confidence communicating with people from a wide variety of backgrounds
  • The resilience to remain calm and professional in challenging or potentially distressing situations
  • Good problem-solving skills and the ability to follow established procedures
  • The ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
  • Previous knowledge or experience of HMCTS, courts or justice-sector procedures would be advantageous but is not essential.

This is a great opportunity for someone looking to build their experience within a professional public-sector environment.

You will be joining a role where your work directly supports the effective delivery of court and justice services.
