We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Payroll Coordinator to join one of our clients based in Abingdon, Oxford on a short term temporary basis. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with a solid payroll background who is looking to take ownership of the end-to-end payroll process in a supportive and collaborative environment.
As the Payroll Coordinator, you will ensure that employees are paid accurately and on time while maintaining full compliance with HMRC and internal policies. You will be working closely with HR, Finance, and employees across the business to deliver a smooth and efficient payroll service.
Key Responsibilities:- Process monthly payroll for all employees, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
- Maintain and update payroll records including starters, leavers, and changes to contracts
- Calculate and process statutory payments (SSP, SMP, SPP)
- Handle pension contributions, auto-enrolment, and liaise with pension providers
- Submit Real Time Information (RTI) to HMRC and manage year-end reporting (P60s, P45s)
- Resolve payroll queries and provide clear explanations to staff
- Work closely with Finance to reconcile payroll data and provide reports
- Ensure full compliance with current payroll legislation and internal procedures
- Proven experience in a payroll position
- Strong understanding of UK payroll legislation and HMRC reporting
- Proficiency in payroll software
- High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and discretion with sensitive data
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines and work independently
Working hours: 8:30-17:00, Monday-Friday.
