Interim Head of Care – 6-Month Fixed Term Contract (with potential extension)
Salary: £70,000 pro rata, plus benefits (including 28 days annual leave, pro rata)
Location: Brierley Hill & Wolverhampton
Hours: 35 hours per week (part-time considered: 28-35 hours)
Working Pattern: Hybrid, with significant on-site presence
The Role
We are recruiting an experienced Interim Head of Care to provide senior leadership across a multi-site care portfolio, including residential and supported living services. This is a hands-on leadership role, requiring strong operational visibility, strategic oversight and the ability to maintain high-quality, compliant care during a transitional period.
The successful candidate will play a key role in regulatory compliance, safeguarding leadership, service performance and continuous improvement, working closely with senior stakeholders and operational teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide strategic and operational leadership across residential and supported living services
- Ensure full compliance with CQC regulations and the Health and Social Care Act 2008 (Regulated Activities) Regulations 2014, including Fundamental Standards
- Lead and oversee safeguarding practice, acting as a senior safeguarding lead
- Prepare for, manage and respond to CQC inspections, commissioning reviews and audits
- Maintain a strong on-site presence, supporting, guiding and developing care teams
- Promote a culture of accountability, collaboration and high standards of care
- Work closely with senior leadership, attending head office meetings and panels as required
- Drive service improvement, quality assurance and performance management
- Support financial oversight, resource planning and workforce development
Essential Requirements
- Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care (or equivalent)
- Minimum 5 years' senior management experience within regulated health and social care services
- Proven experience managing residential and/or supported living services
- Strong, up-to-date knowledge of CQC requirements and inspection frameworks
- Extensive experience in safeguarding, quality assurance and regulatory compliance
- Sound understanding of relevant legislation, including the Care Act, Mental Capacity Act and safeguarding frameworks
- Strong leadership capability with experience managing teams across multiple locations
- Full UK driving licence and access to own vehicle
