Salary: £28k (40 Hours per week)
A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a proactive and detail-oriented Components & Raw Material Purchaser to join a dynamic and supportive team. This role is essential to ensuring the timely and cost-effective procurement of materials used in steel-based and assembled finished products.
With responsibility across two operational sites, the successful candidate will report directly to the Supply Chain Manager and work closely with the Production Manager to align procurement with production requirements and strategic goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Source, plan, and purchase a variety of components and raw materials in line with production needs.
- Work in close collaboration with the production team to ensure materials are available to meet production schedules.
- Maintain accurate inventory levels and stock control systems.
- Develop and manage strong supplier relationships to ensure reliability, quality, and value.
- Negotiate pricing, delivery schedules, and contract terms to achieve cost savings and efficiency.
- Identify supply risks and manage resolutions to avoid production disruptions.
- Maintain records of purchases, supplier performance, and pricing history.
- Collaborate with the Quality team to address any supplier or material issues.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and contribute to strategic sourcing plans.
What We\’re Looking For
- 3-5 years of experience in a purchasing or procurement role, ideally involving steel products.
- Strong negotiation skills and a proven track record in supplier management.
- Experience in inventory and stock management.
- Proficiency with ERP systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytic abilities.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- A proactive mindset with a high level of initiative.
- Knowledge of international sourcing and logistics (preferred).
- Familiarity with ISO standards (ISO 9001, 14001, 45001) is an advantage.
