The Agency Worker will support middle management and operate with minimal supervision, exercising independent judgment in completing assignments.
Examples of work performed will include but not be restricted to:

  1. preparing high-level correspondence and checking that produced by others
  2. interpreting and reporting complex data
  3. resolving problems or responding to complex enquiries
  4. managing the workload of a team or section
  5. High degree of numeracy and data management
  6. Proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel
  7. liaising with internal and external stakeholders at senior level building and maintaining relationships

An Assistant Commercial Manager role to deliver specific workstream elements of the Commercial life cycle elements of the Prison Education Service programme. Focusing on Screening and Assessment services (S&A), Common Awarding Organisations (CAO), and Local Authority Libraries. This role will support the procurement, contract award, and mobilisation of these contracts @£43m (S&A £13m, LA Libraries £25m + £15m, CAO concession nil value) over 7 years, 3 separate lotted contracts for S&A, 38 LA Library contracts, the CAO and S&A services covers over 100 prisons. These are statutory contracts which are vital to align with the PES Prison Education programme, critical to meeting rehabilitation in custody and reducing reoffending strategies.
The screening and assessment procurement has failed once due to lack of market engagement and commercial understanding, this role is vital to ensure a successful procurement. The role will support engagement with the programme, digital teams, and suppliers. The LA Library contracts will require commercial support and planning of new contracts with 38 Local Authorities. All three work stream areas require support to navigate governance requirements.
This role will also play a vital supporting role to develop and finalise the contract and schedules and mobilisation of the new contracts by end December 2025.

Typical qualifications and experience: five GCSE passes at Grade C or above plus 2 ‘A’ level passes at grade E or above or equivalent, or NVQ Management Level 3 or 4, or suitable management experience including the use of Microsoft Office. Management experience in an office environment. Excellent communication skills both oral and written.
Vetting required is: The Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS).
Location – London based BPSS + Standard DBS

WORKING HOURS

HYBRID – The working hours are 37 hours a week and a recommended 2 or 3 days a week in the office.
