About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and committed Deputy Manager to support the Registered Manager in the day-to-day running of a 4-bed children's residential home for young people aged 8-17. This role is key to ensuring the delivery of high-quality, child-centred care in line with the Children's Homes Regulations and Quality Standards. You will lead shifts, support staff, and help create a safe, stable, and nurturing environment where young people can thrive.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Registered Manager in the effective running of the home
  • Take responsibility for the home in the Manager's absence
  • Lead shifts and provide direction to the staff team
  • Ensure safeguarding practices are consistently upheld
  • Support young people's emotional, social, and educational development
  • Supervise, mentor, and develop staff performance
  • Ensure compliance with policies, procedures, and regulatory standards
  • Work in partnership with local authorities, schools, and professionals
  • Contribute to audits, inspections, and quality assurance processes

Requirements

  • Level 3 Diploma in Children and Young People (essential)
  • Experience working in a children's residential setting
  • Previous leadership or senior-level experience
  • Strong knowledge of safeguarding and childcare regulations
  • Willingness to undertake Level 5 Leadership and Management qualification
