Our client HM Courts & Tribunals Service (HMCTS) is an agency of the Ministry of Justice. HMCTS provides administrative support for the legal system across England and Wales, ensuring justice works for everyone. Our MOJ client requires a court usher to join the busy team on a temporary basis, until the end of June 2026 initially, with possible extension, whilst HMCTS recruit for permanent Court Ushers.

Details:

  • £12.21 per hour pay rate for the first 12 weeks, increasing to £12.95 per hour thereafter.
  • Hours are Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm, 37 hours per week.
  • Our client is based in Nottingham City Centre and offers a great opportunity to work within the courts and gain experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Greeting members of the public
  • Liaising with judiciary, witnesses, jurors and other court users with professionalism
  • Basic admin duties, data entry, dealing with queries, preparing juror packs in preparation for trials
  • Walking jurors to and from court whilst remaining socially distanced
  • Preparation of court rooms
  • Providing support to all users of the courts, for whom it may be their first time

  • Post room duties

  • Confident and enjoy interacting with a variety of court users.
  • Excellent customer service skills and a passion to help people.

Skills and qualifications:

  • Good strong basic admin experience
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
  • Ability to remain calm in potentially difficult situations
  • Ability to remain professional at all times and converse with a variety of court users
  • Excellent customer service skills

Additional information:

  • The pay rate is £12.21/hr for the first 12 weeks, increasing to £12.95/hr thereafter, and benefits include holiday pay and pension scheme.
  • Full training will be given, starting you off with the basics as well as meeting and greeting.
  • Once fully trained, you will then work in the Nottingham Courts.
