Brook Green Supply (BGS) is a leading independent B2B gas and electricity supplier, delivering tailored energy supply and Net‑Zero solutions to industrial and commercial consumers. We are undertaking a major billing system transformation and are seeking a Billing Systems Lead with experience in Utilities Billing to take ownership of testing and validation activities through the development stage and system management and ongoing development post go live. This role offers high ownership and visibility at a critical stage of the project.
You will play a key role in ensuring the new billing platform is accurate, robust, and fit for purpose across complex real‑world scenarios. Reporting to the Head of Billing & Settlement, you will act as the primary SME for billing within the project. You will work closely with the project team to validate billing outputs, support go‑live readiness and contribute to ongoing system improvements post go‑live.
This role will play a key role in ensuring migration and ongoing success of our new billing system, and will provide the successful candidate with an excellent opportunity to gain an unmatched level of knowledge.
Essential functions of the job:- Own end‑to‑end testing for billing, ensuring all processes and outputs have been thoroughly tested.
- Validate billing accuracy through detailed reconciliation between legacy and new systems, identifying and investigating discrepancies.
- Assess and prioritise defects based on customer, operational and financial impact, working closely with third‑party vendor to drive resolution.
- Support go‑live readiness by assessing acceptance criteria, tolerances, and providing SME input into go/no‑go decisions.
- Build strong relationships across the business to ensure alignment on risks, priorities, and outcomes.
- Identify process gaps and areas for improvement and reduce risk post go‑live.
- Work with stakeholders to define and manage a post go‑live roadmap, prioritising enhancements, fixes, and process improvements.
- Continue to provide expertise post go‑live, including validation of bill runs, monitoring outputs, and identifying defects in a live environment.
- Previous experience working within a billing‑focused position in the energy industry, or proven expertise supporting or leading UAT for system implementations or transformations.
- Experienced with an energy industry CRM system.
- Ideally holding technical literacy in system administration, with a solid understanding of core infrastructure and operational practices.
- Ability to translate system behaviour into clear business and customer impacts.
- Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and confidence working with large datasets.
- Confident communicator, able to challenge, influence, and provide clear direction in a fast‑paced environment.
- Highly organised with the ability to manage competing priorities.
