We are seeking an inspirational and committed Class Teacher to join Brook Academy, someone who is passionate about delivering meaningful, engaging education for young people with SEMH and SCL needs. At Brook Academy, you will play a vital role in transforming the educational journeys of pupils who require specialist support. You will help students build confidence, develop positive behaviours and gain the skills they need to succeed both in school and beyond.
About the role
- Deliver high-quality, engaging teaching that meets the diverse needs of learners with SEMH and SCL needs
- Create a positive, structured and nurturing classroom environment where pupils feel safe and supported
- Plan and adapt lessons to ensure accessibility, challenge and progress for all learners
- Support pupils in developing emotional regulation, resilience and positive behaviour for learning
- Build strong, trusting relationships that promote confidence and engagement
- Contribute to a curriculum that balances academic achievement with personal and social development
- Work collaboratively with support staff, families and external professionals to provide holistic support
- Monitor progress closely and adapt provision to ensure every pupil can succeed
- Prepare pupils for successful transition into further education, training or employment pathways

About you
- A qualified teacher (QTS/QTLS or equivalent) with strong classroom practice
- Committed to inclusive education and passionate about supporting pupils with additional needs
- Experienced in, or motivated to work within, a special school or alternative provision setting
- Skilled in adaptive teaching and able to personalise learning effectively
- A confident communicator who can build positive relationships with pupils, families and colleagues
- Patient, resilient and empathetic, with a genuine desire to make a difference
- Passionate about behaviour support, emotional wellbeing and pupil development
- A reflective practitioner who thrives in a collaborative team environment

The Brook Academy is a special school in Gloucester supporting young people with social, emotional and mental health as the primary need for students, and speech, language and communication need as a secondary need.
