What will be your role? Bronswerk is looking for a Senior Project Engineer to join its UK office. As an integral member of the company, the Senior Project Engineer provides technical support to the Systems Project team ensuring adherence to quality, contract requirements and timelines. The incumbent will be actively participating in the execution of projects often called upon to multi-task effectively and support multiple requests simultaneously.
- Provide technical and subject matter expertise on marine HVAC systems and components, ship design specifications, heating and cooling load calculations, duct pressure loss calculations, equipment and duct sizing calculations, controls philosophies, etc.
- Develop HVAC system designs and prepares detailed design drawings in collaboration with the client.
- Provide HVAC expertise and advice to clients and recommend solutions to issues as they arise including conflicts with other systems while respecting each step of the Project Lifecycle process.
- Act as a mentor for junior engineers.
- Prepare single line diagrams and chilled water/hot water systems single line diagrams.
- Calculate heat loads, pressure drops for ducting and piping systems, equipment capacities and selections, duct sizing and noise calculations.
- Perform air balancing calculations and prepare HVAC equipment layout sketches.
- Ensure that requirements are met to permit the efficient and effective integration of the HVAC system into a ship design model or retrofit into an existing ship physical infrastructure.
- Provide recommendations on HVAC machinery control system architecture; prepare block diagrams and control philosophy.
- Identify and resolve technical issues that arise on site to ensure that the system is installed as planned.
- Prepare material requisitions for submission to the Purchasing Department.
- Participate in commissioning, inspections and production engineering issue rectification.
- Participate in a team effort designing HVAC-R equipment such as AHUs and FCUs.
- Assist in the preparation of quotations.
- Ensure that time spent on project tasks meet effort and schedule requirements.
- Work within our mechanical and automation controls teams to deliver great service to clients.
Which candidate profile are we looking for?
- Bachelor’s degree in marine or mechanical engineering.
- 7 to 10 years of relevant experience.
- Experience in HVAC system design, and fair HVAC-R equipment design knowledge.
- Solid knowledge in ships’ HVAC-R commissioning processes.
- Computer literate including AutoCAD, ShipConstructor (asset).
- Thorough knowledge of HVAC and ventilation systems processes, psychometrics, and duct/fan system performance.
- Strong communication and technical writing skills along with project level experience is preferred.
- Willing to travel up to 20%.
- Must meet security clearance requirements and hold a valid British citizen passport.
