Providing safe homes for our customers and safe workspaces for our colleagues is central to everything we’re doing at BDHT. We have an exciting opportunity for a Health & Safety Manager to join us to play a critical role in shaping the organisation’s H&S strategy.

Responsibilities

  • Embed a culture of safety ensuring compliance across all operational areas, including office environments, housing stock, repairs and maintenance, and contractor operations.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to senior leadership, providing guidance on H&S and Occupational Health matters, risk mitigation, and regulatory compliance.
  • Develop policies, drive improvement projects, and deliver training programs that enhance safety awareness and operational excellence.
  • Influence organisational practices and directly improve the safety and wellbeing of staff, contractors, and residents.

Qualifications & Experience

  • NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent; IOSH membership or other recognised H&S qualification.
  • Proven experience managing health and safety in housing, social care, property management, or similar operational environments.
  • Good knowledge of UK H&S legislation including fire safety, asbestos, legionella, manual handling, and COSHH.
  • Experience conducting risk assessments, audits, inspections, and incident investigations.
  • Excellent written and verbal skills, with the ability to explain complex H&S concepts to staff, management, and residents.
  • Experience delivering training and developing proactive risk mitigation strategies, H&S KPIs, or safety improvement programmes would be beneficial, however not essential.

Additional Requirements

  • This post requires that the job holder is subject to a DBS check at a Basic level.
  • Possession of a current valid driving licence and appropriately insured car is a requirement for the post.
