Situated in North Worcestershire, Bromsgrove District Council and Redditch Borough Council share services. Bromsgrove and Redditch Councils are looking to recruit Waste Collection loaders to work across our services, covering both districts. The role involves working flexibly to collect domestic and recycling waste from our residential customers on a weekly basis.
Key Requirements- Ability to work flexibly across any of our collection rounds, at both of our depot sites.
- Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Comfortably able to walk distances of around 10-15 miles each day.
- Able to communicate effectively with colleagues and customers.
- Be able to meet the physical demands of the job, for example move around 1200 wheeled bins daily.
We are looking for people who are experienced in working within a waste collection environment or similar outdoors job role. The successful candidates will need to meet the below criteria:
- Have a full UK driving licence and be willing and able to work flexibly across our service area at both of our sites.
- Have an understanding of health and safety in the workplace, its impact on the job role and people you work with and are in contact with.
- Have effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Have an understanding of what good customer service looks like and how this impacts the role and councils.
- Have a flexible can‑do attitude to the role and service, be comfortable working alone or as part of a small team within a wider team environment.
- Be an excellent timekeeper and self‑motivated.
- Be able to demonstrate the correct behaviours that are required when representing the council to its customers.
Additionally, you should be able to demonstrate the following:
- Have a minimum of one year’s experience within a waste management role or similar discipline.
- Have a good understanding of both council areas and the services the council delivers.
- Experience of working with machinery.
