About the Role
Supports the Supplier Quality Manager by working closely with suppliers to ensure processes, systems, and products meet customer design intent and quality requirements. The role focuses on supplier verification, defect prevention, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement, while managing customer-specific requirements and providing technical support. It ensures robust product quality through New Product Introduction, minimises quality costs, and safeguards continuity of supply. The position contributes to complex, multi-phase projects, with outcomes reviewed at key milestones by senior management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct supplier validation and quality audits, lead supplier approval processes (including APQP), and assess manufacturing capability and HSE risks.
- Collaborate with Engineering and suppliers to define process parameters, improve capability, and support new product introduction and first-off approvals.
- Lead root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions, including on-site verification and escalation of unresolved issues.
- Monitor, analyse and report supplier performance through KPIs, PPM, warranty, cost recovery, and quality data to drive continuous improvement.
- Promote and support process improvement initiatives using Lean, Six Sigma, PFMEA, MSA and error-proofing techniques.
- Ensure accurate documentation, compliance with regulatory and PPAP requirements, and provide quality training internally and externally.
- Develop strong stakeholder relationships, manage supplier strategy independently, conduct benchmarking, and communicate progress through reports and presentations.

- Knowledge of quality and business systems including, Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), Production Part Approval Process (PPAP), Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA).
- Experience of plastic injection moldings and/or metal forming preferred.
- Lean Manufacturing knowledge.
- Knowledge of ISO9001/ISO18001/ISO14001.
- Knowledge of measurement techniques and understanding and interpretation of engineering drawings.
Qualifications and Experience Levels:
- Degree preferred, HNC or equivalent experience in similar role.
- Substantial experience in a volume manufacturing environment.
- Experience of working in Quality Assurance.
- Experience of Supplier Quality Development.
