The successful candidate will join our thriving Strategy &Development team, whilst being embedded within the core practice areas of ourservice in schools and the community. The role involves working withqualitative and quantitative data to write reports with meaningful findingsto support organisational growth. It is essential that the right candidate hasexcellent analytical and data collection skills, attention to detail, communicationand interpersonal skills, is motivated, enthusiastic, creative and can workindividually and as part of a team.

Main duties of the job

As a team worker, the successful candidate will support our teamsto measure the impact of interventions and shape services to children, youngpeople and families (parents/carers) for the future, based on research. Thepost-holder will develop skills, knowledge and confidence in working with youngpeople and their families (parents/carers) which will equip them with rich experiencefor further training or study in this field.

The post holder will work with people with different culturalbackgrounds and ages, using interpreters when necessary and should be committedto equity, equality, diversity and inclusion. Flexibility with working hours isa must as our service operates 8am to 6pm Monday to Friday and some Saturdayworking may on occasion be required.

PreviousAssistant Psychologists working with Bromley Y have progressed tostudy and train successfully on courses including doctorates and CYP IAPTtraining.

Job responsibilities

ROLE FOCUS:

The purpose of this role isto contribute to the development of early intervention and prevention emotionalwellbeing services in Bromley. The role will aim to improve outcomes forChildren, Young People, Parents and Carers through various methods dedicatedto service improvement. The Assistant Psychologist will help with collectingdata, evaluating and summarising results and communicating learning and impact.They will contribute to writing of reports for service leads, trustees,commissioners as part of their main role of reporting on the Key PerformanceIndicators (KPIs) for Bromley Y across the four quarters of the year leading upto the CEOs Annual Report. They will assist in the implementation of auditingand quality assurance and the design and delivery of innovative researchprojects. They will be expected to use IT and statistical programmes tocollect, review and analyse feedback from service users and support Bromley Yscommitment to co-production. The post holder will collect data and analyseresults for therapeutic interventions both one to one and group work to reviewtheir effectiveness. They will have a role collecting and analysing Equity,Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) data to assist improving access and outreach toall communities in the Borough. The postholder keeps up to date with evidence-based literature and research to assistteams in evidence-based practice. The role will be a balance of working digitallyfrom home with some dedicated time at Ethelbert Road. The post holder must beprepared to be flexible in their working arrangements.

MAIN DUTIES ANDRESPONSIBILLITIES:

Conductaccurate and precise data entry and scoring.

Communicateand liaise with different teams to collect and analyse data for regular serviceperformance reporting and for projects.

To work withthe Strategy and Development service to support the Leadership Team andBusiness Support to complete data entry and prepare reports for Teams and thewider organisation.

Complete alldata entry as required within the service and to keep up to date and clearrecords in line with service policies and procedures.

To contributeto gathering and analysis of data for the regular quarterly reporting againstkey performance indicators and to distribute essential documents, research andreports to staff and relevant stakeholders as agreed with manager.

To undertakeadministrative duties associated as required for the service and in line withresearch projects, progress reports etc.

To take aproactive approach to any other research activities that may arise.

To contributeto the evaluation of all areas of service delivery in line with Bromley YsQuality Assurance Framework, to ensure service user and professionalsatisfaction and the positive impact of interventions.

To workalongside others to demonstrate and critically evaluate the implementation ofthe early intervention role to meet the mental health needs of children andyoung people.

To have afocus on extending service reach to diverse communities and assist this workand thinking.

Toparticipate in team and service meetings as required.

Manage ownworkload through line management.

To support theAssessment and appropriate Pathways for Children and Young People, which mayinclude direct work clients.

To supportwith the design, facilitation and evaluation of Therapeutic Groups forchildren, young people Parents/Carers.

Person Specification

Qualifications

  • Degree (2.1 or higher) in Psychology, Cognitive Science, Neuroscience, or a related and relevant field of study.
  • Evidence of continuing professional development, in a field relevant to child and adolescent mental health.

Experience

  • Experience of data collection and statistical analysis.
  • Experience of working independently and efficiently as well as effectively within a team and across teams.
  • Evidence of using data and service user feedback to support innovation and service delivery.

Knowledge and skills

  • Excellent attention to detail and organisation skills to manage own time and workload, take proactive approach to problem-solving and independently prioritise conflicting deadlines.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, including good interpersonal skills to establish rapport with colleagues.
  • Ability to work with common software packages used in research management and data analysis including: Microsoft Office Suite (e.g. Outlook, Excel and Word), Google Spreadsheets and SPSS).
  • Knowledge of various research methodologies and their suitability for different types of reporting.
  • Knowledge of Children/Young People mental health and education services in the London Borough of Bromley.
  • Working knowledge of Health, Social Services, Education and the Voluntary Sector.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of child and adolescent development and mental health.
