We are seeking an enthusiastic, flexible and competent Dental Nurse to join our Special Care Dental Service. We are based across 5 sites in Bromley, Bexley and Greenwich. Even though the successful candidate would be ideally based at 1 or 2 sites on a regular basis but may on occasions be asked to cover for colleagues at different sites. We would expect you to make your own travel arrangements to meet the needs of the job. A valid driving licence and access to a car is essential for this position.

The successful applicants must have an appropriate qualification in Dental Nursing and be registered with the General Dental Council. Excellent communication skills, compassion, empathy, good organisational skills, IT skills and being a team player are integral to this post. Previous experience of working in CDS is desirable but we would be happy to train someone with the right aptitude and skills.

Main duties of the job

We run our General Anaesthetic sessions from PRUH in Orpington, we would expect the post holder to part take in these session when required. We aim to provide high quality dental care for our special needs patients and children who are referred into our service.

We carry out domiciliary visits to meet the needs of the patients in their own settings- their own homes, care/residential homes and sometimes hospitals. We also provide treatment under conscious sedation. Any previous experience of conscious sedation will be desirable.

Qualifications

  • Professional Registration-GDC
  • Nursing Recognised by the General Dental Council Hospital, National Certificate or N.V.Q. Level 3
  • Evidence of Continuing Professional Development
  • Recognised with the General Dental Council

  • Experience of Dental Nursing Work with range of patients including adults and children
  • Experience of General Dental Practice, broad based Community
  • Dental Practice or Emergency Dental.
  • Work with clients requiring good patient skills-particularly anxious children and adults with special needs.
  • Work in areas of social exclusion and with multi-ethnic populations

Information Technology

  • Good IT Skills
  • Working knowledge of use of Dental Software Systems
