Community Staff Nurse – Beckenham area – Band 5

Full-time – 37.5 hours per week

£35,763 – £43,466 Inc HCAS per annum pro rata

We are looking for Community Staff Nurses to join our dynamic, friendly team who are patient‑focused and thrive on providing quality care. The role requires skilled competencies such as PiCC lines/IVs and is key to delivering excellent care in the community.

All community nurses start at Band 5 and, upon successful completion of defined clinical and non‑clinical competencies, progress automatically to a Band 6 Senior Staff Nurse. A District Nursing course (subject to availability) and further progression to a District Nursing qualification is supported, along with apprenticeships, internal training programmes and developmental opportunities.

Applicants must have a current driving licence and access to a vehicle to be considered for this position.

Main Duties of the Job

  • Conduct holistic patient assessments and design care plans.
  • Implement, monitor and maintain high standards of care.
  • Re‑assess and re‑evaluate care programmes when needed.
  • Actively share best practice within the team.

Shift pattern includes:

  • 8:15 am – 4:15 pm
  • 10:45 am – 6:45 pm
  • 1 weekend in 4 required; additional evening & weekend shifts available.

Job Responsibilities

  • Safeguard children, young people and adults at risk.
  • Contribute to clinical delivery of the service through holistic assessments, care‑plan design, review and effective clinical care.
  • Assist daily team coordination: handover, work allocation, referral and telephone‑message management.

Qualifications & Training – Essential

  • Registered Nurse (Adult Branch)
  • Current NMC registration (or awaiting confirmation at time of application)
  • Preparation for mentorship/ENB 998 or willingness to undertake.

Qualifications & Training – Desirable

  • Degree

Experience – Essential

  • Experience writing accurate records.
  • Evidence of provision of high standards of clinical care.
  • Valid driving licence and ability to use a vehicle and satnav.

Experience – Desirable

  • Teaching and assessing skills.
  • Experience caring for older people.
  • Experience administering drugs or willingness to attend study days.
  • Knowledge of standard setting/clinical audit.
  • Community experience or placement.

Specific Skills – Essential

  • Good knowledge of basic clinical skills: wound care, catheters, medication administration, end‑of‑life care.
  • Ability to document clinical records within NMC guidelines.
  • Awareness of current government and nursing healthcare policy and legislation.
  • Ability to undertake holistic assessments, implement appropriate nursing care and evaluate outcomes.

Information technology – Essential

  • IT literacy including use of iPads.
