Bromley Healthcare, a community interest company, delivers a diverse range of services encompassing community nursing and therapy services catering to individuals across all age groups. We are looking for Health Care Support Workers who are caring, compassionate, and genuinely interested in working with children and young people with complex healthcare needs and challenging behaviours.

As a Health Support Worker, you will play a valuable role in providing care and support to ensure the needs of the children are met. Experience in working with children and young people, particularly those with learning disabilities and complex healthcare needs, is beneficial.

Main duties of the job:

  • Assist senior support staff in the day-to-day care of children receiving short-term breaks.
  • Contribute to the development of individual children’s profiles and care plans.
  • Support less experienced staff in the above activities where delegated.
  • Be aware of and respond to children’s emotional and physical needs.
  • Participate in the implementation of individual care plans under supervision.
  • Act as key worker to named children, ensuring their care plans are up to date.
  • Promote a daily routine and settle children into bed when on night duty.
  • Accompany children on outings into the community.
  • Administer medication in accordance with Bromley Healthcare’s Medication Procedure.
  • Monitor and maintain the safety and security of the children.
  • Participate in reviews and meetings held regarding individual children.
  • Develop and maintain the ability to manage children with challenging behaviours.
  • Ensure health and safety needs of the children are met.
  • Participate in regular supervision, team days, and staff meetings.
  • Maintain accurate records as required by the service.

Person specification:

  • GCSE or equivalent in Maths and English.
  • Further study/Qualifications in Childcare or Health.
  • Experience working within a Children’s Home setting.
  • Good communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Ability to relate with others.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Car driver with access to a vehicle for work.
