Community Podiatrist – Band 5
Salary is dependant on experience

An exciting opportunity has developed to join a committed, progressive team who work in a challenging and motivating environment. The successful candidate will have a responsibility to provide foot health care and advice to patients with “at risk” feet.
We are looking for a Band 5 podiatrist to work within our friendly and professional team. You will require a broad clinical experience at undergraduate level with an understanding of community podiatry services and intermediate care services.
You will need to demonstrate an understanding of the legal responsibilities of the profession, the significance of Evidence Based Practice and clinical governance implications, as well as being able to work in, sometimes challenging, conditions to provide patient care.
You will hold a degree in Podiatry, be registered with HCPC, you will be expected to maintain a portfolio of development and be able to meet the travel requirements of this post.

Main duties of the job
Although primarily based in a clinical setting, the role is across the Bromley borough with a home visit case load. Due to the nature of the role it is essential that applicants are able to travel independently across the locality and have access to a suitable vehicle for business purposes.
The post holder will be up to date with current best practice and demonstrate Bromley Healthcare values in their day to day role working as part of a team. We value health promotion through patient empowerment and education, therefore we require podiatrists who have excellent communication and assessment skills.
As this post is open to graduate level we will provide mentorship and rotation through specialist clinics to ensure CPD.

- Management of a domiciliary caseload – routine care and diabetic foot assessment.
- Exposure to wound care and support where needed will be provided.
- Opportunities for rotation in MSK and nail surgery will be made available.

Qualifications
- Degree in Podiatric Medicine or equivalent leading to licence to practice
- Local analgesia administration certificate
- HCPC registration
- May engage in post‑graduate study such as CPD courses and modules
- Ability to complete basic grade induction programme
Experience
- Able to use own experience to offer 2nd opinions to others
- Experience of specialist areas of work, e.g. minor nail surgery, biomechanics, rheumatology, the Diabetic & at risk foot and Health Education at university or on placement
- Experience in presenting information, adapting teaching/training to the learning styles of others
- Previous role as a Podiatry Assistant
Skills
- Knowledge of Podiatric conditions and advanced therapies
- Evidence of ability to work alone and as team member
- Demonstrates understanding of clinical governance
- Knowledge of a range of assessment techniques; including diagnostic equipment e.g. Monofilament, Doppler
- Hold a current UK driver\’s licence and have access to a car to be able to commute effectively and efficiently between service bases/work settings
- An interest in developing an area or service
- Evidence of team working or good knowledge of team working principles
- Able to reflect on constructive feedback from peers, and implement appropriate changes to practice
