Grade: NHS AfC Band 6. Contract: Fixed term, 12 months (up to 30 hours per week). Hours: Part time, flexible working. Site: Phoenix Children's Resource Centre, Town Bromley. We offer a unique opportunity for a highly motivated, forward‑thinking physiotherapist to cover maternity leave for 12 months, delivering high‑quality, specialized physiotherapy care to children and young people aged 0‑19 across all community settings including home, children’s centres and educational settings.

Main duties of the job

  • Undertake comprehensive specialist assessment of children and young people from a varied caseload, including those with complex presentations, MSK and developmental concerns, using investigative and analytical skills.
  • Formulate an individual physiotherapy management plan with parents/carers and the child/young person, using advanced clinical reasoning skills.
  • Work within the multi‑disciplinary team, providing specialist advice to other health professionals such as other therapies, child psychologists, health visitors, GPs, social care professionals, education services and others as necessary.
  • Supervise, delegate and teach physiotherapy assistants and physiotherapy students.
  • Ensure physiotherapy management principles are embedded in the community in which the child learns, plays and is cared for.
  • Provide specialist advice for Education Health Care Plans.
  • Accept clinical responsibility for a varied children’s caseload, organising priorities and time effectively.
  • Assess children and young people for specialist equipment for postural control, facilitate provision of that equipment, instruct users and monitor new developments in specialised equipment.

Person specification

Qualifications

  • A degree or diploma in Physiotherapy from a recognised training establishment.
  • Registration with HCPC.
  • Member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapists.
  • Member of APCP.

Skills

  • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal.
  • Knowledge of postural management, equipment and orthotics.
  • Ability to prioritise, delegate and manage time efficiently.
  • Ability to work as part of a multi‑disciplinary team.
  • Current UK driving licence with car available for work.

Experience

  • Post‑graduate experience in a paediatric setting.
  • Experience and understanding of safeguarding children.
  • Understanding of EHCP process and reports.
  • Wide variety of paediatric experience (MSK, respiratory, etc.).
