An exciting opportunity has arisen here at Bromleag Care Practice for a salaried GP to join our growing multi-disciplinary team. This post holder will work as one of a team of GPs, ANPs, Pharmacists and more, delivering general practice services to patients at Bromleag Care Practice. We provide comprehensive primary care to patients residing in Care Homes and Extra Care Housing within the Borough of Bromley. At all times the post holder must act in a professional manner consistent with the code of conduct expected from medical practitioners representing Bromleag Care Practice and the NHS.

Main duties of the job:

  • Provide proactive care to support and improve the health and wellbeing of residents in Care Homes and Extra Care Housing.
  • Carry out home visits, telephone and video consultations, manage repeat prescriptions and handle queries, paperwork and correspondence in a timely manner.
  • Make autonomous clinical decisions for patients, whether self-referred or referred by other healthcare professionals.
  • Screen patients for risk factors and early signs of illness.
  • Deliver high-quality clinical care, maintaining the highest standards and keeping accurate, up-to-date consultation records and clinical letters or summaries.
  • Apply principles of clinical governance and risk management, complying with all relevant policies and guidelines (KPIs, prescribing, confidentiality, data protection, health and safety).
  • Commit to continuous learning, audit and evidence-based practice, contributing to audits, clinical standards and development of patient records.
  • Attend training and events organized by the practice or other agencies where appropriate.
  • Ensure death certificates are completed promptly and in line with Medical Examiner and Registrar requirements.

Person Specification:

  • Full GMC registration.
  • MBBS or equivalent medical degree.
  • MRCGP.
  • Inclusion on the performers list.
  • Knowledge and experience of general practice in the UK.
  • Ability to take full and independent responsibility for the clinical care of patients.
  • Experience with EMIS and knowledge of computer-based patient records.
  • Good management of patient care and audit participation.
  • Effective communication skills with clinical and non-clinical staff.
  • Commitment to Continuing Medical Education and the requirements of Clinical Governance.
  • Working in primary care in an area with significant health problems.
  • Caring attitude to patients and a patient-centred approach.
  • Flexible working attitude, ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Additional Criteria:

  • Work as part of a team to ensure QOF targets are met.
  • Participate in weekly multidisciplinary team meetings, time in meetings and clinical audit where required.
  • Liaise with voluntary agencies and multi-disciplinary teams in both the community and secondary care.

Post holders must maintain the confidentiality of information about patients, staff and other health service business in accordance with the Data Protection Act 2018. No unauthorised disclosure is permitted. In line with the Freedom of Information Act 2005, post holders must apply the Bromley GP Alliance FOI procedure for written information requests.

Health and Safety:

All post holders have a responsibility to ensure that Trust health and safety policies and procedures are complied with to maintain a safe working environment for patients, visitors and employees.

Infection Control:

All post holders must attend mandatory training in Infection Control and comply with all measures required by the Trust to reduce healthcare-associated infections, including the Bromley GP Alliance infection screening and immunisation policies.

Safeguarding children and vulnerable adults:

Post holders have a general responsibility for safeguarding children and vulnerable adults in the course of their daily duties.
