Join to apply for the role at Bromley Experts by Experience. Bromley Experts by Experience is a small, yet ambitious, Deaf and Disabled People’s Organisation. You’ll help us build strong governance and play a key role in ensuring our Trustee Board is able to operate efficiently and accessibly. The Secretary role is vital. The organisation has gone through big changes. With a new and growing staff team and Trustee Board, we are committed to further developing governance mechanisms and supporting the Board to reach their potential. The Secretary will play a key role in achieving this. We are expanding new projects and services based on input from members. The Secretary will be central to shaping how the Board supports our mission, vision, and values. It’s an exciting time at Bromley Experts by Experience as we’ve just secured our biggest ever funding agreement from the National Lottery. The funding is for a new Youth Transition Project, enabling us to reach young Disabled people across Bromley and neighbouring boroughs.

What will you be doing?

The Secretary will work with the CEO and Chair of Trustees, ensuring governance documents and procedures are followed, and that trustee meetings are accessible. The role includes preparing, administering and delivering the AGM, and ensuring the charity meets regulatory requirements and strong governance. You will ensure trustees recognise and complete relevant actions, evidence decisions are lawful, and reflect the charity’s aims.

Our definition includes anyone who faces barriers in society, including people with physical impairment, visual impairment, Deaf, hearing impairment, neurodivergent, learning difficulties or disabilities, mental health conditions, and long‑term health conditions.
