Are you passionate about empowering and enabling diverse communities to live independently? We have an exciting opportunity for an Independent Living Officer to become part of our unique and dynamic Independent Living team here at Bdht.
The Role
As an Independent Living Officer, you will be the face of our Independent Living community, engaging directly with customers to understand and address their needs. In this role, your commitment to our values will help create a safe and inclusive environment where every individual is heard and respected. Visual presence and face to face engagement is key to ensure our customers have the assistance they need to be happy and safe in their home.
Our Independent Living Officers will deal with queries, incidents and issues that may occur in and around the independent living schemes. You will support and encourage social interaction and be creative and imaginative to deliver events and activities. Undertaking regular Health and Safety inspections, to include fire alarm and water testing, you will ensure that legislation is adhered to and report any issues. You will also report any communal repairs or defects and follow through until completion.
Customers living in our properties can be diverse and often vulnerable and the role can be very challenging so you will need to have a flexible, caring, understanding and positive approach to assist them with any issues and concerns that may arise.
About You
We are looking for an individual with experience of working within a customer based environment that acknowledges and understands vulnerabilities. Bring your caring spirit and proactive problem-solving skills to help build an inclusive community where every customer feels valued. You’ll need to have good communication and interpersonal skills along with the ability to work well within a team setting. Good IT skills, in particular MS Office, and the ability to use IT based systems is also required. Having an understanding of welfare benefits, including Housing Benefit claims, would be preferable although this is not essential. The use of a current driving licence and access to an appropriately insured vehicle is a requirement for the post. Mileage expenses will be reimbursed.
