As our Health and Safety Advisor, you'll play a key role in helping colleagues work safely, confidently and compliantly while delivering services that enable people and communities to thrive. This is far more than a compliance role. You'll build trusted relationships with operational teams, provide practical guidance that makes a real difference, and help create a positive safety culture across a complex organisation that manages homes, communities and frontline services.

What You'll Be Doing

  • You'll work closely with managers and colleagues across the business, providing clear, practical and proportionate health and safety advice that supports effective decision-making and safe ways of working.
  • Support managers with incident reporting, investigation and learning.
  • Assist with audits, inspections and assurance activities.
  • Help identify hazards and risks, supporting the implementation of practical control measures.
  • Provide guidance on health and safety legislation, policy and best practice.
  • Contribute to contractor management processes, including reviewing risk assessments, method statements, COSHH assessments and permit-to-work arrangements.
  • Support the development of a positive and sustainable safety culture.
  • Help ensure health and safety arrangements are applied consistently across the organisation.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to turn health and safety requirements into straightforward, workable solutions.

What We're Looking For

  • We're looking for someone with a good understanding of health and safety principles who enjoys building relationships, influencing others and helping people find practical solutions.
  • You'll Bring:
    • A NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent qualification.
    • Working towards, or committed to achieving, Tech IOSH membership.
    • Experience applying health and safety principles within operational environments.
    • Knowledge of health and safety legislation and best practice.
    • An understanding of audits, inspections, risk management and incident investigation.
    • Awareness of contractor management processes and associated documentation.
    • Strong communication skills with the ability to engage colleagues at all levels.
    • A pragmatic and customer-focused approach to health and safety.
    • A commitment to continuing professional development and IOSH progression.
    • Full UK driving licence.
