By joining our team as an Apprentice Assistant Site Manager, you'll work on live residential construction sites alongside experienced Site Managers while studying towards a Construction site supervisor level 4 qualification. You'll learn the fundamentals of site management, health and safety, programme coordination and communication with multiple stakeholders, while gaining invaluable hands‑on experience.

This position is site based and operates on a rota of six weeks on site followed by one residential week at Cinderford College (accommodation provided). Site locations may change to meet business needs and to support your learning. You'll be required to commit at least 20% of your working time to off‑the‑job learning, ensuring coursework is completed on time and to the required standard, and that all assessments are passed throughout the apprenticeship. The apprenticeship is approximately 2 years long. On successful completion, there are strong progression opportunities into Trainee Assistant Site Manager, with further career development towards Assistant Site Manager and Site Manager roles.

Ideal candidate will have:

  • Mathematics and English – Level 4 (Grade C) or above, equivalent functional skills, or a Level 2 Apprenticeship
  • A full UK driving licence or working towards (Completion by the end of your apprenticeship is essential.)
  • A genuine interest in the construction and housebuilding industry
  • Enthusiasm to learn and a strong desire to develop both academically and practically
  • Ability to work on your own initiative as well as part of a team
  • Strong communication skills and a professional, reliable approach
  • Confidence using Microsoft applications such as Outlook, Word and Excel

Daily responsibilities

  • You'll be supported by a Site Manager and wider site team, and you won't be expected to know everything from day one.
  • Support the Site Management team with the day‑to‑day running of a residential building site
  • Help ensure projects are delivered safely, on programme and to quality standards
  • Maintain health and safety procedures, ensuring a safe working environment for all
  • Assist with coordinating deliveries and storing materials safely and efficiently
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues, subcontractors, suppliers and members of the public
  • Learn to review site activities, identify issues and suggest practical solutions
  • Ensure all college coursework and assessments are completed on time and to the required standard
