We’re looking for an experienced buyer to join our in-house construction team, supporting the delivery of high quality homes across multiple developments.
Working within the Commercial Team, you’ll manage the full material procurement process, ensuring that every development is supplied with the right materials, on time and within budget. In this role, you’ll take ownership of buying functions across several sites, sourcing and managing suppliers, negotiating prices, and ensuring quality standards are met. You’ll work closely with the Technical and Construction teams to review schedules, specifications and drawings, producing robust works packages for tender. You’ll analyse tenders, oversee the scheduling of materials, and ensure compliance with policies, procedures and procurement legislation. You’ll keep up to date with market trends and new products, using your insight to help us make effective supply chain decisions. You’ll champion continuous improvement, proactively identifying opportunities to enhance our processes and relationships. You’ll also work with our Central Procurement team to explore group purchasing opportunities, ensuring value for money and consistency across our developments.
This role is permanent and full time. You can be based from either of our main offices in Chipping Sodbury or Tewkesbury with some visit sites across Bristol and Gloucestershire.
You will have:
- Experience of scheduling materials such as 1st and 2nd fix timbers
- Strong IT skills, ideally with experience of COINS and good knowledge of MS Excel
- Excellent communication, negotiation and relationship-building skills
- High attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities under pressure
- A full UK driving licence
- A valid CSCS card (or willingness to obtain one)
- The ability to complete a basic DBS and consumer check
