JOB PURPOSE
Our Energy & Infrastructure group sits at the heart of Brodies' corporate team, driving forward some of the most exciting and complex projects in the market. We advise across the full spectrum of energy – oil, gas, renewables and heat – as well as major infrastructure sectors including water, waste, transport, regeneration and health.
We have opportunities within our Oil & Gas team for talented lawyers to contribute to our expanding practice. Depending on your experience and interests, you may focus on E&P/Operations work and/or on Service Sector matters. Both areas offer exposure to a wide-ranging and high-quality caseload, providing excellent scope to develop your expertise and support clients on significant projects.
You'll have the chance to get involved in high-value, strategically important projects that shape the future of the sector.
CORE TASKS
In principle, the roles will be to support the partners in the team.
Oil & Gas transactions vary, and work assignments will depend upon the specific instructions we have at any one time. The following are illustrative:
- Advising operators on all aspects of upstream operational contracts, including JOAs, transportation arrangements and decommissioning security agreements
- Advising operators on field development agreements
- Advising on diligence aspects of M&A transactions and working with the partners on SPAs and M&A transactions
- Advising service sector clients (and operators) on contractual issues in relation to all types of specialist service sector contracts, including drilling, seismic, offshore construction, EPCs etc
- Advising on regulatory matters
- Establishing good working relationships with team, clients and other departments in Brodies
- Business development with clients and prospects
- Preparing industry briefing notes
- Assisting the Oil & Gas team in keeping up to date with legal and industry developments
- Be aware of Brodies' information security policies, and protect information assets from unauthorised access, disclosure, modification, destruction or interference at all times
