We are looking for an English-qualified solicitor with a strong background in litigation and dispute resolution to join our Band 1 Chambers‑ranked Private Wealth Disputes team within the firm's Litigation department. You will be a key part of our growing team, working on a variety of interesting and challenging English law and cross‑border disputes for a wide range of clients, including private individuals, trustees, executors, and corporate and institutional clients.

You will gain experience across a wide range of contentious trust and probate disputes, together with the broader disputes encountered by high‑net‑worth individuals and institutional clients operating in the private wealth sector — including tax, professional negligence, and commercial litigation. In addition to court proceedings, you will be involved in mediation, negotiated resolutions, and other forms of ADR.

You will play a key role in further developing the department’s English law and contentious private client capability, including building our English law knowledge base. You will also have the opportunity to work with the latest legal technology to help us deliver an outstanding service for our clients. This is a significant opportunity to play a leading role in the growth of the Private Wealth Disputes team. You will have an active focus on business development and the chance to shape both the English litigation and private client offering within Brodies. CORE TASKS

  • Drafting legal documentation, including claim forms, particulars of claim, requests for arbitration, legal submissions, and witness statements
  • Drafting legal correspondence.
  • Conducting legal research and preparing advice for clients
  • Attending consultations with clients, colleagues and counsel.
  • Contributing to business development, including building client relationships and helping to win new mandates
  • Actively contributing to the development of our English litigation, cross‑border private client capability, and English law knowledge base
  • Raising the profile of the English dispute resolution team, both internally and externally
  • Supporting colleagues across the firm with ad‑hoc English law queries
  • Keeping abreast of changes in law and developments in the practice area

PERSON SPECIFICATION

  • A strong background in dispute resolution and a genuine interest in private client law
  • Experience of contentious trust and probate litigation, mediation, arbitration, or other forms of ADR is desirable but not essential — we are happy to support your development in these areas
  • Excellent attention to detail and strong legal research skills
  • A willingness to keep your legal knowledge current and, ideally, to undertake specialist qualifications such as the ACTAPS Diploma or the STEP CPD Contentious Estates course (though this is not a prerequisite)
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage your own workload effectively
  • A proactive and collaborative approach, with the confidence to take initiative
  • Enthusiasm for using legal technology and AI tools to deliver an excellent client service
