Overview
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Maintenance Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong mechanical background, with the ability to troubleshoot and maintain various systems, plant and vehicles within our facilities. This role requires a proactive approach to ensuring all equipment operates efficiently, contributing to the overall productivity of the organisation.
Specifically the role will support the repair and maintenance of:
- Compressed air systems
- Forklifts
- MEWP
- Vans
- Roller Doors
- Train Vehicle Lifting Jacks
- Fixed Plant – Guillotines, Woodwork machinery
This is a ‘hands on’ role, the job holder will be responsible for carrying out fault finding and preventative maintenance on buildings, plant, and equipment. This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing business and to be part of a small but impactful team.
Duties
- Conduct regular maintenance checks on machinery and equipment to ensure optimal performance.
- Troubleshoot and repair mechanical and electrical issues as they arise.
- Read and interpret schematics to understand system layouts and components.
- Supervise maintenance staff, providing guidance and leadership in daily tasks.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and repairs performed.
- Collaborate with other departments to address maintenance needs and improve processes.
- Provide excellent customer service by responding promptly to maintenance requests from staff.
Key skills and experience
- Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to diagnose issues effectively.
- Background in plant maintenance is desirable.
- Ability to complete remedial repair work in line with statutory and legal requirements.
- Adept at problem solving and flexible in their approach to work.
- Proficiency in electrical systems, including wiring, circuits, and troubleshooting techniques.
- Familiarity with reading schematics and technical drawings.
- Excellent customer service skills, ensuring a positive experience for all internal stakeholders.
- Able to work to tight deadlines.
- A time served apprentice trained with industrial experience (medium to heavy industrial plant and equipment) with formal qualifications (Level 3 City and Guilds, 18th Edition or equivalent).
- Driving Licence (essential).
- Experience and training for working at height (essential).
- MEWPS licence (essential).
