Position type: Full time 40hrs per week (Mon - Thurs 7.30am - 4.30pm & Fri 7.30am - 1.30pm)

Overview

The main role of the Production Co-ordinator is to create and manage a production plan that ensures the resources needed to deliver any current project requirements are met. This is a key role, which is critical to ensuring that we plan and organise our resources in line with our overall project portfolio requirements.

Duties

  • Develop a production resource plan to understand resource constraints for all current and upcoming projects
  • Communicate daily with Production Supervisors, Production Manager and Project Managers/Engineers to gather information to update the plan
  • Communicate with the Commercial side of the business to add upcoming and future projects to the plan to understand resource requirements and impact on current workforce
  • Review and update Project Plans for individual projects (in MS Project or Excel format) to show task progress to completion at the end of the shift
  • Assist Production Management team in reviewing work instructions to check all paperwork is completed prior to project start and signed off after project completion, developing and publishing daily/weekly task plans. This may also include reviewing labour shortages/absences, delays in train arrival or dispatch, shunter issues, tooling issues etc, developing schedules for shunting, driving, train delivery and despatch ensuring they are safely integrated into planned work, causing least disruption, and resource forecasting to understand recruitment requirements and any production efficiencies that can be implemented
  • Comply with all Brodie Engineering policies and procedures as detailed in the Employee Handbook and other issued documents and support the Production Manager in any HR processes (i.e. disciplinary, grievances, annual appraisals)
  • Collating and checking time clock-in data, absences and timesheets for production staff

Key Relationships

  • Reporting to the Production Management team assist in revising and amending resource plans and daily/weekly task trackers
  • Work closely with Project Managers/Engineers and Commercial team for reporting and predictions for project completion

Key Skills

  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel and Projects, with the ability to manage schedules, resources and reporting effectively
  • Experience in rail and rolling stock is desirable
  • Understanding and experience of project planning and delivery is desirable. Willingness to learn about production environment and prepared to have a steep learning curve
  • Previous experience in a similar planning position is desirable
  • Results oriented, a self-starter able to use own initiative and decision-making skills to manage various tasks and learn quickly
  • Keen to pose questions and understand issues
  • Good communication skills and ability to work with wider teams to ensure information and knowledge is transferred to the relevant plans
