An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and enthusiastic Trainee Healthcare Assistant to join our dedicated Nursing Team at Brockworth Surgery. The ideal candidate will have experience in phlebotomy, a willingness to learn, the ability to take on responsibility, and a strong team ethic. We are looking for the candidate to work full time, 37.5 hours per week.

Main duties of the job include:

  • Phlebotomy
  • Blood pressure monitoring
  • Performing ECGs

At a later stage, the successful candidate will receive training in long-term condition reviews, NHS Health Checks, and wound management. Please note that over 70% of this role will involve phlebotomy.

About us: Brockworth Surgery is a practice based in Gloucestershire caring for over 11,000 patients. We are a teaching practice and our team consists of 3 GP Partners, 5 salaried GPs, 1 Lead Practice Nurse, 4 Practice Nurses, 1 Lead Healthcare Assistant and 1 Healthcare Assistant. We also work within a multidisciplinary team of Mental health practitioners, Pharmacists, Care Co‑ordinators and Social Prescribers. We have a very good team ethic at the practice and all work together to ensure high quality care is given to our patients.

Job responsibilities include:

  • Carrying out patient observations, i.e. blood pressure
  • Performing ECGs
  • Assisting with ordering

Qualifications:

  • Qualified in Phlebotomy
  • Experience within general practice/NHS
  • Experience with blood pressure, ECG monitoring

Skills:

  • Works effectively within a team
  • To maintain confidentiality
  • Able to work under pressure
  • To be flexible around working hours
  • Friendly and approachable

Experience:

  • Phlebotomy trained
  • IT literate with experience
  • Able to take blood pressure
  • Able to carry out ECGs
  • Experience with SystmOne
