Course Maintenance – Green Keeping Talent Pool
Brocket Hall is looking for passionate individuals to join our Course Maintenance team as one of our Green Keepers at one of the UK\’s most prestigious golf estates. The maintenance of our two championship golf courses, The Melbourne and The Palmerston, requires hardworking and dedicated professionals who can contribute to ensuring that our courses provide an exceptional playing experience year-round. As a Green Keeper, you will play a key role in the upkeep and care of the golf courses, ensuring that they meet the highest standards of quality and presentation.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance tasks on the golf courses, including mowing, aeration, and irrigation, under the guidance of the Course Manager
- Assist in the planning and execution of course maintenance programs, seasonal renovations, and improvements
- Monitor the health of turf and plants, applying fertilizers and pesticides as necessary in compliance with safety guidelines
- Maintain and repair course equipment and machinery to ensure optimal functionality
- Work as part of a team to manage the daily operations of the course, including assisting with maintenance of bunkers, greens, and tee boxes
- Conduct regular inspections of the course to identify areas needing attention and report findings to the Course Manager
- Promote a clean and safe working environment for staff and players alike
- Engage with members and guests to enhance the overall golf experience by providing knowledgeable insights regarding course conditions
Qualifications
- No prior experience as a green keeper is necessary as full training will be provided; however, a passion for horticulture, landscaping, or golf is a plus
- Opportunities for full-time apprenticeships and continued CPD training will be provided as part of this role with a reputable college and BIGGA-approved courses
- A keen interest in the principles of turf management and environmental sustainability
- Willingness to learn and develop skills in course maintenance and landscaping techniques
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and perform physically demanding tasks
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high standards of quality
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and communicate well with colleagues
- Flexibility to work early mornings, weekends, and holidays, as required
- Basic understanding of health and safety regulations related to landscaping and maintenance activities
