Here at Brockenhurst College, we are looking to recruit an IT Services Officer (2nd Line Support) on a full-time, permanent basis. In return, you will receive a competitive salary of £26,039 - £28,719 per annum DOE. We are a high-achieving college who attract around 2,800 sixth form students across the region each year. We are based within the stunning New Forest National Park and offer our students a huge range of courses and superb facilities.
The Role: As our IT Services Officer, you will provide hardware and software support for users of the College's information technology systems; to ensure that staff and students receive the best possible support in accordance with College policies and procedures.
Responsibilities as our IT Services Officer will include:
- Support 1st line support in the operating of the IT Services Helpdesk and logging of all requests in the helpdesk system
- Provide 2nd line support for staff and students experiencing problems with any operating systems or applications installed on their workstations including AV equipment, if unable to resolve, escalate to 3rd line support
- Ensure that the hardware database holds accurate and up to date details of each workstation's hardware configuration and to provide reports on request
- Assist in the installation or upgrade of computer hardware, software and network devices to ensure that they are secure, up to date and configured correctly
- Perform fault diagnosis and testing of hardware and network cables and to make repairs where possible
- Participate in the organisation and implementation of regular maintenance and servicing of equipment
- Take effective and timely action in the event of any breach in workstation or network security, whether caused by the actions of an individual or by a computer virus and report it to the IT Services Manager immediately
- To join with other members of the IT Services team in arranging, agreeing and participating in a working rota to ensure that an acceptable level of support is available for evening, weekend and out of normal term IT activities
- Create, maintain and delete any user network accounts as part of the starter/leaver process and where relevant to allocate pre-approved printing credits
- Help with the ordering of Printer supplies and stock checks to be reconciled against records
- Assist with documentation and knowledge transfer of key processes when working in the IT team
As our IT Services Officer, you'll ideally have:
- A relevant IT qualification
- Current experience in an IT support role, supporting current technologies
- Current experience in supporting Apple Mac & PC based systems
- Working knowledge of Windows 10 and above PC hardware and interfacing
- Printer and other peripheral support
- MS Office and other Microsoft applications
- An understanding of Networking environments
- A basic understanding of Telecommunication systems
- The ability to demonstrate a high level of customer care and support
