We have an exciting opportunity for an Estates and Facilities Operative to join the team on a full time, permanent basis. In return, you will receive a competitive salary of £24,834 - £33,285 per annum. We are a high-achieving college who attract around 2,800 sixth form students across the region each year. We are based within the stunning New Forest National Park and offer our students a huge range of courses and superb facilities.
About the role: As the Estates and Facilities Operative, you will be responsible for the safe, secure, and efficient running of the site. The role includes carrying out maintenance and caretaking duties, managing site security, operating intruder alarm systems, and responding appropriately to fire alarm and fire panel activations to ensure the safety of all building users.
Responsibilities as our Estates and Facilities Operative will include:
- Security & Site Management
- Unlock and lock buildings and site pedestrian/vehicle access points in line with procedures.
- Set and unset the intruder alarm systems in line with opening and closing of the site.
- Fire Safety & Fire Panel Response
- Monitor and respond to fire alarm system activations and fire panel alerts.
- Investigate fire alarm activations in line with site procedures, where safe to do so.
- Maintenance & Repairs
- Carry out reactive maintenance tasks, basic building maintenance, repairs, and fabric works (e.g. painting, minor plumbing, joinery).
- Identify and report defects, hazards, and maintenance issues.
- Grounds & External Areas
- Maintain external areas including paths, car parks, gardens, and green spaces.
- Carry out litter picking, leaf clearance, and ice/snow treatment if/when required.
- Health & Safety
- Work in accordance with health and safety legislation and site policies.
- Ensure safe use of tools, equipment, and substances.
- General Duties
- Set up rooms for events, meetings, and operational use.
- Move furniture and equipment safely.
As our Estates and Facilities Operative you'll ideally have:
- Good general standard of education
- Basic computer literacy, including the ability to use systems for logging jobs, completing reports, and using email.
- Experience in an estates, caretaking, facilities, or maintenance role.
- Good understanding of Health & Safety.
- Strong organisational and communication skills.
