We are working with a leading investment firm in London that is looking to hire a Managing Director to help lead its Financial Services / FinTech investment strategy.
Following a recent capital raise, the firm is actively looking to deploy capital into high-growth, asset-light and technology-enabled Financial Services businesses across international markets.
The strategy focuses on businesses benefiting from the continued digitisation of financial services, including FinTech, payments, financial infrastructure, digital banking, InsurTech, lending and wealth technology.
The Role
The Managing Director will play a senior role across origination, investment execution, portfolio management and strategy, with particular responsibility for developing proprietary investment opportunities and building relationships across the Financial Services ecosystem.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Leading the sourcing and origination of new investment opportunities across Financial Services and FinTech
- Developing and maintaining senior-level relationships with founders, management teams, advisers, intermediaries and industry participants
- Leading transaction evaluation, structuring, negotiation and execution
- Developing investment theses across attractive subsectors and emerging themes
- Overseeing detailed commercial, financial and strategic due diligence
- Leading investment committee discussions and presenting investment recommendations
- Negotiating transaction terms alongside internal and external stakeholders
- Working closely with portfolio company management teams on growth, strategy, M&A and value creation
- Representing the firm externally across the Financial Services and investment community
- Supporting the continued development of the broader investment team
- Contributing to strategy, portfolio construction and capital deployment priorities
Candidate Profile
The firm is looking for a highly experienced investor or senior dealmaker with a strong track record across Financial Services, FinTech or technology-enabled Financial Services.
Relevant backgrounds may include:
- Senior Growth Equity or Private Equity investor with a strong Financial Services / FinTech track record
- Managing Director with deep FIG, FinTech or Financial Institutions M&A experience and strong transaction origination credentials
- Senior investor with extensive experience investing in asset-light, technology-enabled Financial Services businesses
Candidates should demonstrate:
- A strong and relevant deal track record
- Proven ability to originate proprietary and intermediated opportunities
- Deep understanding of Financial Services and FinTech business models
- Strong network across founders, management teams, advisers and investors
- Excellent commercial judgement and investment judgement
- Experience leading complex transactions from origination through completion
- Strong board-level and portfolio company interaction
- Ability to build credibility with entrepreneurs and senior management teams
- Strong leadership and team development capabilities
