Role Overview
The Principal will play a senior role within the private credit platform, with responsibility spanning origination, underwriting leadership, transaction execution, and portfolio oversight. The role requires independent deal leadership, sound credit judgment, and the ability to act as a trusted counterpart to founders, sponsors, and senior stakeholders. The Principal will work closely with Partners and Investment Committee members and is expected to materially contribute to the growth and performance of the private credit strategy.
Key Responsibilities
- Origination & Relationship Management
- Proactively source and originate private credit opportunities through relationships with founders, sponsors, intermediaries, and ecosystem partners.
- Build and maintain a strong external network to support a consistent, high-quality deal pipeline.
- Represent the firm as a senior, credible capital partner in the market.
- Underwriting & Investment Leadership
- Lead credit underwriting, including business risk assessment, cash flow durability analysis, downside protection, and capital structure evaluation.
- Oversee and review financial models, stress scenarios, and return analyses.
- Drive structuring of transactions, including pricing, covenants, security packages, and documentation.
- Prepare and present investment recommendations to the Investment Committee with clear articulation of risk, mitigants, and return drivers.
- Transaction Execution
- Lead end-to-end execution of transactions, coordinating legal, financial, and commercial diligence workstreams.
- Negotiate key commercial and legal terms with counterparties and advisors.
- Ensure disciplined execution consistent with the firm’s risk framework and investment mandate.
- Portfolio Management & Risk Oversight
- Maintain senior oversight of portfolio credits, including performance monitoring, covenant compliance, and early risk identification.
- Lead discussions on amendments, waivers, restructurings, or workout strategies when required.
- Contribute to portfolio construction, risk concentration management, and valuation processes.
- Platform & Strategy Development
- Support development of the private credit platform, including strategy refinement, product expansion, and investment process enhancement.
- Mentor junior team members and provide oversight on underwriting and execution work.
- Contribute to fundraising, investor communication, and portfolio reporting as needed.
Candidate Profile
Experience
- 8–12+ years of experience in private credit, direct lending, structured credit, leveraged finance, special situations, or credit-focused investing.
- Demonstrated ability to originate and lead transactions independently.
- Strong experience with growth-stage or sponsor-backed businesses; exposure to technology-enabled companies is highly advantageous.
Technical & Investment Skills
- Deep understanding of credit risk, capital structures, and debt documentation.
- Strong judgment in structuring, covenant design, and downside protection.
- Ability to clearly articulate complex credit decisions to senior stakeholders and Investment Committee.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, or related field.
- MBA, CFA, or equivalent professional qualification is a plus.
