Berrys At Berrys, weβre all about land and property. Working from four offices across the Midlands, we offer an array of services β planning, architecture, building surveying, valuation and business consultancy β to help our clients make the most of their assets.
You will be part of a multi-disciplinary team of planners, surveyors, heritage and archaeology consultants, engineers and architects based in the Shrewsbury office. Our work ranges from planning applications and appeals to site promotions, spanning sustainable urban extensions, solar farms and historic barn conversions. You will primarily work on multi-disciplinary projects and develop specialist skills in areas of interest. We also offer training opportunities including further educational studies.
Hours: 37.5 hours per week, to be worked flexibly Monday-Friday.
Responsibilities
- Collation of desk-based archival research
- Interpretation and analysis of field data
- Offering expert archaeology advice to colleagues and clients
- Advising on statutory consents including scheduled monument consents
- Using GIS to record and present spatial information
- Drafting and assisting in the preparation of technical reports including Desk-Based Archaeology Assessments, Heritage Impact Assessments, Written Schemes of Investigation and Historic Building Records
- Tendering and managing archaeological fieldwork
What we are looking for / Qualifications
- Graduate degree in archaeology or a closely related subject in the historic environment
- Commitment to professional development including gaining membership of a professional body (e.g. CIfA, IHBC)
- Excellent written English and creative problem-solving abilities
- Knowledge of British Archaeology, legislation and the UK planning system
- Preferably 1 or more years relevant professional experience
- Ability to advise and offer confident and quality advice as a planning project lead
- Confident in liaising with a project team with excellent communication skills
- Driving license and access to a car for site visits
- Experience in any of the following is an advantage: archaeological fieldwork; historic building assessment/recording; GIS and/or CAD software; assessment of heritage asset settings
