Role: Building Services Technician
Reports into: Building Services Manager

Contract Type: Full Time, Permanent (42.5 hours per week)

What we’re looking for:
We now have an exciting opportunity for a hands-on, experienced, and forward thinking individual to join our team as a Building Services Technician. This role will work closely with the Heads of Spaces and the Building Services Manager across the Broadwick Spaces portfolio.
To be successful in this role, you will have a proven track record of facilities management, and ideally experience of mechanical and electrical engineering to some degree. Ideally you will have worked within a large industrial building with multi-faceted elements. The prime function of this role is to maintain and oversee the smooth running of the buildings ensuring that the building is fully compliant, and our Health and Safety standards remain high. You will also assist the corporate and live events team, supporting them with any building and operational requirements related to our corporate and live events bookings. You will act as an ambassador for your venues, ensuring that our brand image is strengthened, and maintained in all interactions with customers, suppliers and colleagues.
What you’ll be accountable and responsible for:
- Building Management
- Ensure all Spaces across the portfolio meet statutory compliance in all areas as a minimum standard.
- Daily / weekly / monthly checks of the buildings, services and infrastructure including, but not limited to:
- Fire alarm testing
- Sprinkler and smoke ventilation systems testing
- Fire door inspections
- Emergency light testing
- Utility meter readings
- Water temperature measurements
- HVAC inspections
- Layher staircase inspections
- Forklift inspections
- MEWP inspections
Team
- Communicating your training needs and actively participating in your own development in line with the line manager’s expectations.
- Supporting the line manager with property management recruitment for your team, when required.
- Creating a work environment that aligns with Broadwick values and principles.
Other
- Ensuring we are always committed to best practice and championing the correct processes.
- Carrying out ad hoc duties when required to.
You’ll need to have:
- An extensive understanding and awareness of health and safety, compliance, and environmental legislation and codes of practice.
- A good, practical understanding of electrical installations and maintenance is essential, recognised electrical qualifications are desirable, but not essential.
- Ability to keep calm, work under pressure and problem solve quickly.
- Previous experience of working within a large industrial building, commercial space and/or event space managing the M&E is desirable.
- A reasonable level of competency using Microsoft and Google Drive software, particularly Word, Outlook and Excel.
- Proficient in reading, writing, and typing in English.
- Self-motivation in addition to a positive and ‘can-do’ attitude in order to achieve tasks efficiently and to deadlines.
Nice to haves:
- A recognised qualification in facilities management & H&S Management.
- A recognised qualification in mechanical and electrical engineering.
- Use and experience of AutoCAD.
- Forklift, IPAF and First Aid training would be an advantage.
- Previous experience supporting high-volume public or cultural events in a venue setting.
- Previous experience of creating systems / processes for monitoring and recording M&E testing in a building.
- Experience of plumbing, carpentry, or general minor building works.
- Availability to work late nights and weekends as and when required.
- The ability to deliver a high level of customer/ client service.
- The ability to work under pressure, and multi-task particularly during our busier periods.
- A reasonable level of competency using all Microsoft packages; particularly Word, Outlook and Excel. Experience of using Slack and or Monday would also be beneficial, but not essential.
