Nottingham Contemporary and Broadway Cinema are two of Nottingham's leading cultural venues, each offering distinctive spaces for hire alongside a strong programme of screenings, exhibitions, events and activities. We are looking for a freelance Event Sales Consultant to generate new commercial venue-hire income across both venues.

Both venues have grown their hire income in recent years, largely through word-of-mouth and repeat bookings. With our teams busy focusing on delivery of high quality events, we have created this shared role to sell our spaces proactively for the first time reaching new clients who might otherwise overlook two of the city's most distinctive event spaces.

As the primary driver of new business, you will identify opportunities across the corporate, public and creative sectors, respond to enquiries with tailored proposals, and convert leads into confirmed bookings. Once a booking is confirmed, our internal teams take over delivery, leaving you to continue engaging with prospective clients. You will build lasting client relationships, help shape compelling hire packages, and recommend whichever venue best suits each client's needs.

This is an externally facing role working across two organisations in a shared capacity, so it calls for a collaborative, transparent and commercial approach.

The Candidate

We are looking for someone with a demonstrable track record of generating new business and meeting sales targets in event sales or business development. You will be a confident self-starter, comfortable with proactive outreach and able to manage a pipeline of prospective clients independently with minimal supervision.

Strong commercial awareness and excellent communication and relationship-building skills are essential, as is the ability to work collaboratively across two organisations and manage a range of stakeholders. Knowledge of the Nottingham and East Midlands market, established networks in the corporate, public or creative sectors, and experience of selling across multiple venues would all be an advantage.

Closing date for applications: 12pm, Mon 17 Aug 2026

Interviews held week commencing: Mon 24 Aug 2026

We support diversity and inclusion, and as organisations we recognise that we need to address underrepresentation within our teams. We encourage applications from people from global majority communities who are not adequately represented in our workforce, people living with disabilities, and people from all socio-economic backgrounds.
